APPLICATIONS ARE LIVE FOR THE MUSEUM PARTNER PROGRAM AT THE BIG E

Apply Before Aug.14 to Bring Visibility to Your Organization

Museums and historic societies throughout New England are cornerstones of our communities, preserving our past and carrying it into the future for our own educational benefit. When Assistant Director of Storrowton Village Museum Samantha DePergola recognized a shared audience between these industries and fairs, she launched the Museum Partner Program to give voice and visibility to museums at The Big E. The program is showcased on Storrowton Village Green during The Big E, Sept. 18 through Oct. 4.

The Museum Partner Program invites museums and historic societies to staff pop-up activations and exhibits on the lush lawn of Storrowton Village Museum during the Fair, where they have an opportunity to interact with new audiences.

Fairgoers can find these visiting organizations nestled between the Gilbert Farmhouse and the Eddy Law Office. Representatives from each group will demonstrate historic trades, display artifacts, offer hands-on activities for children and discuss the significance of their organization. Each society’s mission is unique, which means there is no shortage of knowledge to obtain.

"Throughout New England, you'll find hundreds of museums—from zoos and historical societies to botanical gardens and science museums,” said DePergola. “Each one provides a rich educational experience that is entirely unique. Their missions support accessible learning opportunities and preserve our heritage. The Museum Partner Program offers museums across New England an opportunity to share the vital work they do on a larger scale."

To apply to participate in the program, head to the application link HERE or contact DePergola with any questions at SDePergola@TheBigE.com by Friday, Aug. 14. Groups at The Big E via the Museum Partner Program can typically be found at Storrowton Village from 10am-6pm on their visiting date. Please note that the schedule has yet to be posted and will be subject to change in the event of inclement weather or staffing troubles.

The historic buildings of Storrowton Village Museum are open to the public from 10am-9pm daily throughout The Big E. Children’s games, including hoop rolling and sack racing, are available at 4:30pm each day. Anticipate trade demonstrations from 10am-6pm, including broom making, blacksmithing and open-hearth cooking.
